In Oil and Gas, Candidates remain loyal but want honest leadership
As one of the major Oil and Gas recruiters in the country, Key Corporate Services follow the ups and downs of this industry closely. As the market price of a barrel of oil has slid, the job market in the industry has “compressed” as corporations tighten their belts, shedding jobs along the way.
But, our executive recruiters in these industries are specialized and remain focused on placing senior and high-potential leadership talent in Downstream Refining, chemical Manufacturing and Process Technology Catalysts.
An interesting article in Rigzone.com highlighted some of the considerations candidates in this field find most important when searching for their ideal career opportunity.
Safety and Leadership are important considerations
Rigzone’s recent survey of more than 200 job seekers across the globe found that 72 percent of job seekers consider workplace safety “extremely important,” and 50 percent consider a strong leadership team “extremely important.”
Where are candidates searching for jobs?
The survey also shed light on various ways candidates are attacking the job search. Almost half of respondents (45 percent) find industry-specific job boards the most valuable in their job search, followed by employer websites (16 percent) and personal networks or friends in the industry (16 percent).
Candidates in this industry show loyalty despite hard times
While the oil and gas industry’s low oil price has been the cause for thousands of layoffs across the globe, candidates remain loyal to the industry. Despite current market conditions, 63 percent of surveyed respondents are not considering leaving the industry. And 82 percent of respondents are willing to relocate for a new job opportunity.
