The Three most important skills to highlight in any job interview- Skill #2 Problem solving

positive-725842_640There is an old axiom that says, “Hire for attitude”.  The thinking is if you hire someone who shows the right attitude, all else is secondary in importance.

When you think about it, attitude is extremely important.  Most employees have to function in a team environment.  Successful projects are dependent on teamwork. And, what is more important to a team’s success than being able to function and work smoothly and in a spirit of camaraderie.  Attitude plays a huge role in this process.

A positive attitude not only makes it easier to work with you, but it can also make for a more productive employee. If you’re more willing to take on new or challenging tasks, and you do so with enthusiasm, you’re more likely to impress your managers and co-workers alike.

So, how do you demonstrate a can-do, positive attitude during an interview?  Start off by focusing on the positive things about co-workers and the tasks you enjoyed.  Never speak poorly about former positions or previous managers or associates.

By focusing on your upbeat, positive accomplishments and problem-solving abilities, you paint a picture of someone the interviewer views as having a great attitude, someone who is a team player and can blend into the corporate environment.

Displaying your communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and your positive attitude, makes you a more attractive candidate to a potential employer. After all, no one is looking to fill a position with a grumpy, complaining sourpuss!
