“I recently placed someone into a National Account Sales Manager position,” said Debi. The company had been trying to fill the position for quite some time.  She told the company about this candidate she had in mind for the position.

“At first, the hiring manager didn’t think the candidate had the right background for the position. I asked him to reconsider and he did.”  The manager almost had the position locked up with another candidate when he agreed to take a second look at Debi’s candidate.

Debi knew the candidate was absolutely right for the job. And, it was only her persistence that resulted in the hiring manager agreeing to that second look at her candidate.  The closer look proved successful as he liked what he saw. “While not a usual step, the hiring manager then suggested the candidate interview with his boss. They loved her.  She was absolutely the right candidate for the position,” said Debi.

She was hired as a sales manager and quickly was promoted to National Sales Manager.

Debi reflected on the importance of her role in landing the candidate the job.  “We hear what the applicant (candidate) says and we also hear what the company says they are looking for.  It’s our job to recognize when there’s a good match.”  Debi added that she has been recruiting for eighteen years.
